All England Lawn Tennis Croquet Club Championships
Wimbledon more commonly known by all who follow the tournament.
Wimbledon has been around since 1875 and is the most recognized tennis tournament in the world. It has 18 championship courts, holds 38,500 guests and is in a 42 acre site to the west of London.
I am sure many of you have visited the arena and enjoyed it. For many it is a one off experience or a way to appreciate a grand and well-organized event that is available to all. Walking around the grounds seeing the players on the courts, sitting on the hill watching the matches on screen or having the privilege to have a seat in centre court or no1 court.
Cannot recall how many times my feet have entered the grounds but this year was different. Apart from the original entrance walk through the outer courts, two places kept me entertained Court No1 and the champagne bar. As always having good friends, who source good seats extremely close to the right baseline provided great viewing opportunities and believe my calls were better than hawk eye.
The initial entrance provided a chance to watch Rafa train on the outer courts then between the bottle(S) of champagne and a few strawberries I enjoyed the following:
Venus Williams ranked 10 beat Elise Martens ranked 54. 7-6,6-4.
Rafael Nadal R2 beat John Millman R137 6-1, 6-3, 6-2.
Johanna Konta R7 beat Hsieh Su-Wieh R113 6-2,6-2.
If you have been, you will understand the enjoyment. If you have not been it happens every year so give it a go.
